‘Her crystalline purity and expressiveness were a joy at all times’… Soprano Nancy Washeim’s national and international career has featured solo performances with a wide range of musical organizations including the McGill Baroque Orchestra, the McGill Symphony Orchestra, Le Choeur Classique de l’Outaouais, the London (England) Bach Festival and the Regina Symphony Orchestra.
As a winner in Montreal’s Musique Française, she traveled to the abbey of Royaumont, France, to study and perform Italian music of the Middle Ages. Her broadcast appearances have included a Christmas concert aired by Radio Canada, which included Bach’s Cantata 51 Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen.
Performances include Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Handel's Ode for St. Cecilia with the Victoria Chamber Orchestra, the Canadian Premiere of Karl Jenkins’s Requiem, Handel’s Samson, and Dixit Dominus with the Victoria Philharmonic Choir, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Pergolesi’s Magnificat with the Sidney Classical Orchestra, and Bach’s Cantata Gott fähret auf mit Jauchzen and Christ Lag in Todesbanden, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra, and Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate and Handel’s Messiah with the Vancouver Island Symphony. Highlights include a concert of the music of Henry Purcell with harpsichordist Colin Tilney, Carmina Burana with the Victoria Choral Society and Ballet Victoria as well as David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus, and Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity. Haydn’s Schöpfungsmesse and Harmoniemesse with the Vancouver Handel Society, a 25th Anniversary concert with the Okanagan Festival Singers and Fauré’s Requiem with the Victoria Choral Society. Haydn’s Creation, and Bach’s cantata Non sa che sia dolore with the Victoria Baroque Players. Upcoming concerts include Bach's Christmas Oratorio and Haydn's Cantilene Pro Adventu.
